During the Town Commission on Feb. 21, Chief Steve Hunt was honored to recognize the outstanding bravery and dedication of Lady Lake police officers.
Sgt. Heather Couch displayed exceptional courage in the face of danger when on June 30, 2023, she provided aid to a victim during an active shooting incident. Despite the risk to her own safety, she selflessly acted to save a life. She was awarded the Meritorious Police Service award. It is issued for an act of extraordinary bravery intelligently performed in the line of duty at imminent and personal danger to life or for a single act in which the nominee displayed extraordinary performance in his/her duty to try to save the life of a person.
On November 9, 2023, Officers Andru Eckerdt and Jean Cintron responded to a critical situation where they administered life-saving CPR, ultimately saving a life. Their quick thinking and heroic actions made all the difference. For this, they were awarded the Chief’s Certificate of appreciation.
These acts of extraordinary bravery exemplify the true spirit of law enforcement, embodying the values of valor and selflessness.
