Commissioner Ed Freeman was elected to the Town Commission in November of 2021 and was appointed Mayor on Nov. 20, 2023. He serves as the Town Commission liaison to the Metropolitan Planning Organization.
After serving in the U.S. Army in Vietnam, Mr. Freeman settled in Southern Connecticut and provided commercial photography and graphic arts for clients in the Greater Metropolitan New York area. He owned commercial and residential rental property in Connecticut and worked closely with town officials there. He and his wife settled in the Water Oak community of Lady Lake in 2015.
In 2026, Mayor Ed Freeman was appointed Heartland League of Cities president, representing Lake and Sumter counties in the Florida League of Cities.
The small-town feel of Lady Lake is very appealing, and I would very much like to see that remain. Continued growth in Lady Lake is inevitable, but the town's heritage and feel must be closely guarded.
