SPECIAL ELECTION MARCH 24, 2026, WARD 2

A Special Election will be held to fill the unexpired term of the late John Gourlie for Town Commission, Ward 2. The Special Election will be held Tuesday, March 24 from 7 a.m. - 7 p.m. at the Lady Lake Community Building (Precinct 525) located at 237 W. Guava St. and Community Center and Crossroads Community Church (Precinct 515) at 275 Griffin Ave.

If the unexpired term exceeds one year, then the town clerk shall, within ten days after such vacancy occurs, call a special election to be held within 45 days from such call, to fill the vacancy. In such cases, the person elected shall hold office for the balance of the unexpired term. The term of office shall expire in November 2028. 

Any person seeking to qualify as a candidate for this office must meet the minimum qualifications as required by law. Candidates must be registered voters, must have been a resident of the Town of Lady Lake for a minimum of one (1) year prior to qualifying, and must reside within Ward 2 at the time of qualification and throughout the term of office.  There will be ballots sent for any vote-by-mail voters in Lady Lake Ward 2. There will be no early voting.

The Town Commissioner terms are four years. They are staggered with Wards 1,3, and 5 up for election in 2026 and Wards 2 and 4 up for election in 2028.
