Any fences erected or replaced in the Town limits are required to have a fence permit and shall be constructed in compliance with applicable building codes and in accordance with the following dimensional and use regulations.
Submittal Requirements
- Site plan showing the location of the fence.
- Any properties located in a rental park will need written park permission for the permit to be released.
Restrictions
- Material: No electrified, barbed wire, razor wire, hog wire, or similar material shall be allowed, except as required per federal, state, or local regulations for facilities that provide utility services, including but not limited to wastewater treatment plants, lift stations, or wireless telecommunication facilities.
- Height: Residential fence or wall height shall not exceed eight feet in the rear or side yards or four feet in the front yard. Commercial or industrial fence or wall height shall not exceed 10 feet on side and rear yards unless approved as part of a development plan.
- Tie-in: Residential fences may not tie into an existing neighbor’s fence.
- Location: Property owners are responsible for the proper location and installation of fences. Fences or walls shall not be located closer than six inches from any property line or right-of-way. Fences or walls shall not be located within areas required to provide clearance for visibility triangle or encroach onto another property or public right-of-way.
- Exceptions: Customary fencing around tennis courts and other approved recreational amenities shall be exempt from height restrictions. Agricultural fences, on properties zoned AG-1 shall be exempt from requirements.
